Top honor goes to credit union executive for excellence in credit union financial management

MADISON, WI (May 20, 2015) — Justin Mouzoukos was honored as the 2015 Volunteer of the Year for his achievements and dedication to the CUNA CFO Council and credit union industry during an awards luncheon at the CUNA CFO Council Conference, which took place May 17-20 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

2015 Volunteer of the Year

Justin Mouzoukos, Chief Financial Officer, Mazuma Credit Union, Overland Park, Kansas was presented with the 2015 Volunteer of the Year Award. This award recognizes contributions to the Council, which as a member-led organization relies on volunteers. Mouzoukos served on the CUNA Financial Education Steering Committee, CUNA CFO Council Sponsorship Committee, CUNA CFO Council Education Committee, CUNA CFO Council Conference Committee, CFO Crasher Program Development Team and recently was elected to the CFO Executive Committee. 

In addition to his career at Mazuma CU, Mouzoukos has been fortunate to be able to start a company dedicated to the understanding and teaching of investment theory. Through this company, Monumental Financial Partners, he has been able to help young people take charge of their financial future and become savvy investors. Mouzoukos has had the privilege of becoming a fiduciary of Mazuma Credit Union’s 401K and has helped several team members understand the importance of investing.

Mouzoukos co-presented a breakout session at the 2012 CUNA CFO Council Conference titled, The CFO’s Responsibility to Community Involvement where he outlined a corporate social responsibility plan that is incorporated into his credit union’s strategic plan which enables his credit union to focus valuable resources for targeted community involvement. The plan stressed the importance of developed and defined key metrics, partnerships and success stories.

“CUNA’s CFO Council thrives because of the efforts of our dedicated volunteers and Justin has mirrored his strategic plan with his involvement on the CUNA CFO Council,” commented Suzanne Weinstein, CUNA CFO Council Chair and CFO at Orlando FCU. “He understands the value of volunteering, how it builds relationships and is just as important, if not more important than donating money. The CUNA CFO Council is so fortunate to have this forward thinking leader dedicated to being a member and serving on several committees over the last four years.”
