Top honors go to four credit union executives for marketing, business development achievements

MADISON, WI (March 31,  2015) – Hilary Reed, Carol Payne, Teea Reed and Sandi Carangi were honored for their achievements in marketing and business development during a ceremony at the CUNA Marketing & Business Development Council Conference, March 25-28 in Las Vegas, Nev.

 

  • Hilary Reed, Senior Vice President & Chief Relationship Officer for Inspire FCU, Bristol, Pa., won the Marketing Professional of the Year Award. Reed was recognized for a decade of focused effort and achieved success for Inspire FCU, along with the work she has done for the credit union industry as an active member of the CUNA Marketing & Business Development Council.  She has been instrumental in helping her credit union gain a reputation as an innovator and early adaptor of such marketing initiatives and techniques as social media integration, youth marketing, retail banking strategies, and unique retention strategies, in addition to driving profitable growth. Reed has thrived on helping other credit unions achieve success by a number of activities at local, state and national levels. By serving on the Council’s Executive Committee and Conference Committee, Reed has helped push other industry thought-leaders to embrace change, think big and implement new strategies by way of innovative thinking and relationship-building in her leadership roles.

 

  • Carol Payne, Vice President, Communications & Marketing, California & Nevada Credit Union Leagues, Ontario, Calif., won the Hall of Fame Award. Payne was chosen based on her enormous contributions in publications, marketing and communications for the industry. She has helped make the California and Nevada Credit Union League one the most recognized, premier state trade associations in the United States. Payne is responsible for managing the corporate branding and external marketing efforts of the League, and was instrumental in getting the Leagues’ most successful industry wide marketing campaign – Credit Unions. For People. Not Profit. – national attention. Payne has been involved in the CUNA Marketing & Business Development Council for over 20 years, and served on the Executive Committee for over six years. She has won over 80 industry awards and continues to serve as a volunteer and judge for Council programs, actively volunteers in her community and continues to offer her experience and expertise on marketing campaigns and strategic initiatives with credit unions.

 

  • Teea Reed, Director of Marketing & Business Development, Union Square FCU, Wichita Falls Tex., won the Rising Star of the Year Award. This new award recognizes and honors rising professionals with two of fewer years of experience in the credit union industry. Reed was recognized for her positive impact at Union Square FCU, other credit unions in her state and in her community. She was nominated by her co-workers for her innate drive to give nothing short of 100 percent in all she does. The marketing campaigns she has developed with Union Square FCU created significant positive increases across multiple levels. Reed also helped start a Children’s Miracle Network movement among the credit unions in her community and has been active in young professional networks. She has used the many educational opportunities available through the Council as a member since 2013. She is known for her passion and willingness to grow in the industry.

 

  • Sandi Carangi, CEO, Mercer County Community FCU Hermitage, Pa. was presented with the Volunteer of the Year Award. As a member-led organization, the Council relies on volunteers, and this award recognizes those contributions to the Council. Carangi serves on the Member Resources Committee. During Sandi’s tenure on the MRC, she has been a significant contributor to the committee’s success. She is insightful in her education recommendations and has offered to present her own findings in a number of channels. Her value and contribution to the movement sets a fine example for other marketing and business development professionals.
