Vantage West Credit Union awarded $1.8 million grant

TUCSON, AZ (August 23, 2021) — Vantage West Credit Union recently received a $1.8 million grant from the Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund. The credit union will use the grant to support community credit needs amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vantage West received the highest dollar amount possible and was one of only four Arizona credit unions to receive an award. The grant will contribute to Vantage West’s efforts to transform their lending capabilities so they can serve more Members in greatest need of assistance. The credit union will deploy the grant funding over the next 18-24 months.

Richard Paige, Director, Market & Product Development at Vantage West, said, “Throughout the pandemic, we have seen the uniqueness of each person’s financial circumstances. As a local credit union, we recognize the importance of meeting people where they are. Vantage West is focused on providing Members with solutions that address their unique needs. This CDFI grant will accelerate and enhance our ability to do so.”

The U.S. Department of the Treasury distributes CDFI grant funds to expand credit and financial services through a network of financial institutions who have demonstrated a commitment to underserved markets and populations. This award extends and amplifies the impact Vantage West already makes, having been a CDFI certified lender since 2018.
