Wright-Patt Credit Union offering relief for members impacted by coronavirus (COVID-19)

BEAVERCREEK, OH (March 20, 2020) — Wright-Patt Credit Union (WPCU) announced that the credit union is providing emergency relief services to help members offset the economic impacts of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). WPCU will temporarily waive certain fees, suspend new foreclosures and automobile repossessions, and offer temporary unemployment loans until Ohio’s state of emergency surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic is lifted. WPCU is also doing its part to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 by adjusting services to accommodate social distancing at its 31 Member Centers.

“This is a difficult time for everyone, so we’re doing everything we can to protect the health and safety of our member-owners and partner-employees, while helping those that are experiencing the financial impact this has had in the communities we serve,” said Doug Fecher, President & CEO of WPCU.

WPCU is offering temporary emergency relief services until the state of emergency is lifted, which includes:

Allowing members to skip up to three consumer loan payments without penalty

•       Suspending new foreclosures and automobile repossessions
•       Suspending late fees on loans
•       Suspending non-sufficient funds (NSF) fees
•       Suspending share transfer fees for Overdraft Protection
•       Suspending member choice teller transaction fees
•       Suspending Foreign ATM fees
•       Waiving early withdrawal penalties on share certificates of deposit
•       Offering temporary unemployment loans at 4% interest
•       Automatically increasing consumer credit card limits for qualifying members
•       Increasing commercial credit card limits by request

Additionally, until the state of emergency is lifted, WPCU will adjust Member Center Services to accommodate social distancing To protect members and partners during this unprecedented public health crisis, WPCU will close Member Center lobbies where possible and process transactions through drive-thru lanes only. Member Centers that do not offer drive-thru service will remain open while practicing safe social distancing and limiting the number of members allowed in the lobby at a time. Certain services will also be temporarily suspended including: coin machines, sales of gift cards, new safe deposit box rentals and Shared Branching services for members of other credit unions. Additionally, cash withdrawals in person from a Member Center will be limited to $2,500 per day without an appointment.

WPCU urges members to make the most out of Mobile & Online Banking, ATMs, and Call-24 telephone services and to avoid visiting Member Centers for routine transactions.

“Things are changing daily, even hourly, and so will the decisions we make to navigate our way through these challenges. We’re taking guidance from national, state, and local agencies, as well as talking with other credit unions around the state. We continue to closely monitor the situation and to respond quickly to the needs of our members,” said Fecher.
