Quarantine SUCKS

I’m in quarantine for the 3rd week in a row.

I was just about ready to go back to work and entirely too excited to do so and then BAM, my family was exposed again.

My instant thought was, I can’t do this for two more weeks.

I need to see my coworkers.

I need to see people.

I need to see my desk … my space … my creative hub.

Being home shouldn’t feel like a life sentence, but lately it just does.

When you don’t have a choice, somehow it becomes painful.

Did you know that light fixtures get really dirty on the inside?

Did you also know that you can clean bathroom vents with q-tips?

Did you know that the wildly popular whipped coffee is just plain weird tasting?

Did you know that I have tried just about every recipe that I have scrolled by on Facebook?

Did you know that Jane The Virgin on Netflix has five seasons?

I apologize that I have let you into my quarantine mind.

It’s chaotic and messy.

I will be honest, I am struggling.

Is that okay to say?

YES.

I am struggling people!

I am the happy-go-lucky, silly, outgoing, gal!

I am the laugh all day gal!

I am the trip over the carpet and ask for someone to put cones around that spot gal!

But right now, I am quarantine gal.

I am not feeling it.

I am done cleaning everything in my house.

Netflix needs something new because Jane isn’t a virgin anymore and the suspense is gone.

I have watched enough documentaries to know how to commit a seamless crime and the fact that I am saying that out loud is shady.

My mind is in a different spot right now.

I wake up.

I work from home.

I go to bed.

I repeat.

It’s depressing.

I know. I said the D word.

IT IS DEPRESSING.

What are you going to do about it, Nanci?

As my friend Lisa would say, thanks for asking.

I have been writing letters.

Hand written cards to send in the actual mail that will actually arrive at someone’s house for them to open.

Not a text.

Not an email.

An actual hand written letter saying HI. I miss you. I hope you are doing ok!

With that, I have a challenge for you my friends.

Send out 5 cards within a week.

Five.

Five cards to five different people with no other agenda than to say I was thinking of you.

Because times like these require us to step away from what is normal and make the effort to check in on one another.

Not sure where to start?

Find me on LinkedIn (Nanci Wilson) or Facebook (NanciGW), shoot me a private message with your address and I will send you some mail vibes.

Afterall, we are in this together.
