Tax Day blues? Try these red hot deals

Feeling down after paying the IRS? Need a pick-me-up?

For me, tax time is to gather the mound of “must shred-eventually” paperwork and make the most of the Tax Day shredding freebies at Staples, Office Depot and Office Max. (Unfortunately my kids have caught on that this is “work”, not a game.) Free shredding (up to 1 pound) is available at Staples through April 21. The Office Depot and OfficeMax free shredding (up to five pounds) will run through April 23.

For those whose “recovery” involves indulging in a meal, drink or some retail therapy, RetailMeNot.com shared its list of Tax Day (Tuesday, April 17) discounts:

National Parks: Give your wallet a break while exploring the great outdoors, because Tax Day happens to fall during National Parks Week. That means free entry into U.S. National Parks the weekend of April 22-23.
