“Confidence is the key to all things in life.” - Carrie Hunt

The CUInsight Experience featuring Carrie Hunt

Thank you for tuning in to episode 66 of The CUInsight Experience podcast with your host, Randy Smith, Co-founder of CUInsight.com. This episode is brought to you by our friends at CO-OP Financial Services. CO-OP is your trusted payment processing partner whose mission is to drive the credit union movement forward.

On this week’s episode, I’m discussing the current state of credit union advocacy efforts with Carrie Hunt, Executive Vice President of Government Affairs and General Council for the National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU). During our conversation, we talk about some of the major advocacy challenges she and her team are facing, including gridlock, disruptions to the industry, and outside players, and why credit unions shouldn’t be afraid to join the fight.

While Carrie says we have some tough challenges ahead of us as an industry, It’s out of those challenges that opportunities arise. She’s seen it happen numerous times throughout her career at NAFCU, and it’s what motivates her and her team to keep pushing forward.

Carrie and I also chat about leadership and making tough decisions. She shares with us some of the things she’s learned as both a leader and manager, as well as some of the mistakes she made as a young leader. We also discuss how mentors have helped her in her career and personal life and the best advice she’s ever received – have fun!

Additionally, during the rapid-fire questions part of the interview, Carrie shares a super funny story about the first time she got into memorable trouble, what she wanted to be when she grew up, and more. You won’t want to miss it!
