The CUInsight Experience podcast: Deedee Myers – Why not (#95)

“Professionals have coaches, amateurs do not.” - Deedee Myers

Thank you for tuning in to episode 95 of The CUInsight Experience podcast with your host, Randy Smith, co-founder of CUInsight.com. This episode is brought to you by Trellance transforming data into actionable insight for credit unions from coast to coast.

My guest on this episode is Deedee Myers, Founder, and CEO of DDJ Myers.  We talk about leadership lessons learned, the value of coaching, what it takes to be a good leader. We spend a lot of time making sure that we, as individuals and credit unions, are asking the right questions and the next generation of leaders that will take over when it’s time to pass the baton. I hope you enjoy my conversation with Deedee.

Deedee shares her knowledge on keeping her team together during the pandemic and how she has grown as a leader during these challenging times. Deedee believes that current leaders need to make sure the next generation of leaders are ready to step up and tackle some of the challenges credit unions face today and potential obscurities that arise in the future.

Deedee talks about what inspired her to start DDJ Myers and how that inspiration has developed and transformed over the years. She speaks transparently about the mistakes she made early in her career, and the mentors that have helped her along the way. When Deedee has a day off and wants to get away, she takes her 1997 Defender Landrover out to enjoy the great outdoors.

During the rapid-fire questions, we learned that Deedee got kicked out of high school, and actually wanted to be a journalist when she grew up. Looking back over her various life experiences, Deedee is always proud to say; “Yeah, I did it.” Enjoy!
