FCU Team Employee & Member Volunteer of the Year

DEER PARK, TX (April 17, 2014) – People helping people is an important philosophy at Shell Federal Credit Union. From that belief a group of Shell FCU employees created a volunteer outreach program named the Furthering Community Unity (FCU) Team more than 5 years ago. The FCU Team started its first year with 145 volunteers who donated over 340 hours back to their communities. To date at least 1500 volunteers have raised and donated more than $75,000 and 7000 hours in the name of the FCU Team.

In 2013, two individuals stood out among the crowd of volunteers to become the FCU Team’s Volunteers of the Year. Jessica Nicholas, an employee at Shell FCU, donated 20 hours of her personal time with the FCU Team. These admirable actions have allowed her to become the FCU Team’s Employee Volunteer of the Year for 2013.

Luisa Herrera, a member volunteer, attended five different events and donated 10 hours of her personal time to be named the Member Volunteer of the Year. Luisa is the youngest member thus far to receive this prestigious honor.  She is a perfect example of the dedication that the FCU Team strives to instill in each young volunteer.

The FCU Team awarded Mrs. Nicholas & Ms. Herrera with a unique ‘Volunteer of the Year’ jacket to show their gratitude for their hard work and dedication. The FCU Team powered by Shell FCU was created to provide opportunities for giving back in our communities and teaching the value of social responsibility in a fun team setting.
