SAN DIEGO, Calif., (Nov. 9. 2012)–San Diego County Credit Union^® (SDCCU^®), San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, has been honored with several recent awards, including last night’s Crystal Award from Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), San Diego Chapter, an indication of its new management team synergy and tribute to their enhanced customer service practices.

“We’re proud to be honored with SHRM’s Crystal Award as it highlighted our management team’s innovation, commitment and hard work,” said San Diego County Credit Union President and CEO Teresa Halleck. Since the arrival in August 2010 of Teresa Halleck as SDCCU® President & CEO, the management team has focused almost exclusively on improving its customer service experience. This success is revealed in the numbers.

SDCCU’s membership growth is roughly 3X better than that of the industry. Total number of credit union memberships nationwide as of Dec. 31, 2011 was 91.8 million.  As of Sept. 30, 2012 it was 93.1 million.  That’s a net increase of 1.42%. Total number of SDCCU’s members as of Dec. 31, 2011 was 224,729. As of Sept. 30, 2012 it was 238,789, which is a net increase of 6.26%.

SDCCU’s customer service improvement began with the launch of SDCCU Mobile Deposit in December 2011. Being ‘first-to-market’ with the banking app in San Diego was the precursor to other innovative products to come. From text alerts and person-to-person payment technology to enhanced customer communications, SDCCU has accumulated more than membership.

With the latest honor from last night’s Crystal Award from Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), SDCCU is tallying numerous accolades in 2012, a record result for the nearly 75-year-old institution.

SDCCU also recently opened their 29^th branch in San Diego’s Del Mar Highlands area, elevating its market-leading profile while expanding its ‘not a big bank’ footprint as one of the few financial institutions in San Diego to offer a Free Checking with eStatements account.

Among SDCCU®’s recent awards:

 — SDCCU received a Crystal Award from Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), San Diego chapter.

 — Nathan Schmidt, executive vice president of marketing and business development, was selected by SD Metro, a news magazine covering the San Diego region, for a “40 Under 40” award. The honor signifies that Schmidt is one of the San Diego community’s top 40 business professionals under the age of 40. Schmidt also was selected as a finalist for the inaugural Marketing Executive of the Year by the San Diego Business Journal.

 — Heather Moshier, executive vice president of information technology, was a recent finalist for the San Diego Business Journal’s Women Who Mean Business. She was a top tech exec honoree in the 2012 Top Tech Exec awards, presented bySan Diego Magazine, and a previous winner of the Information Technology Executive of the Year award by Credit Union Times, a leading credit union industry publication, along with a Cybersecurity Award from the San Diego Business Journal.

 — Michelle Pagni, executive vice president of human resources, was selected as a SD Metro Mover for 2012 and was a finalist for San Diego Business Journal’s HR Professional of the Year award.

 — SDCCU® was a finalist for Healthiest Company award by the San Diego Business Journal.
