4 ways to help employees thrive

You’ve put the right team in place, but they’re not quite performing up to their potential.  If you’re finding yourself in this position, here are four ways you can help your team thrive…

Know them like the back of your hand: It’s important that you get to know your employees. Your team members are more than an employee ID number. They have dreams that they want to be able to fulfill while working for your company. Get to know them and you’ll gain their respect. Caring about your staff is a great way to get them to care about the company.

Give them the right training: Nothing kills productivity like a poorly trained employee. Training should result in an employee knowing the ends and outs of their position, as well as a working knowledge of them company overall. Productivity is higher when employees fully understand what they’re doing and how their job fits into the bigger picture.

Take advantage of their strengths: It’s a great feeling when you know you’ve hired the right person for the right job. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case. A struggling employee may be in the wrong position. As you get to know employees better and get to know where their strengths lie, use that information to put your employees in the right places. No one is usually great at everything, so don’t be afraid to move them around before you decide to let them go.

Loosen the reins: When your team is ready, the last thing you want to do is get in the way. It’s kind of like trying to drive a car with the parking brake on. Your team is strong and ready to do their job. Now it’s time to let them do it.
