Credit union champions advance in Hawaii, Alaska Primaries

Credit union champions won their primary races in Hawaii Saturday and Alaska Tuesday. Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC) and state leagues have backed 279 credit union champions with a 96% success rate this election cycle.

In Hawaii, former state Sen. Jill Tokuda, D-02, won the open seat primary with support from CULAC and the Hawaii Credit Union League.

In Alaska, CULAC and the Alaska Credit Union League backed Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski. Murkowski and fellow Republican Kelly Tshibaka are expected to compete on November’s ballot for the Senate seat.

CULAC is one of the five largest trade association PACs and among the most bipartisan PACs in the country. CULAC works with state leagues to identify, vet, and back congressional candidates who support credit unions and the CUNA-League system’s efforts to promote financial well-being for all.
