Credit union supporters in Ohio, Ind., win primaries
Credit union supporters saw victories in Tuesday’s primaries in Ohio and Indiana, as all 19 credit union supporters in the two states won Tuesday. Candidates were supported by the Ohio Credit Union League, Indiana Credit Union League, and the Credit Union Legislation Action Council (CULAC), CUNA’s federal political action committee.
This includes Rep. Shontel Brown, D-Ohio, who defeated Democratic primary challenger Nina Turner 65% to 35%. CUNA and the Ohio Credit Union League has supported Brown since her first special election to fill the seat in November 2021.
As of this week, 42 out of 43 credit union-backed candidates have been successful in the 2022 cycle.
