Develop leaders at all levels

If your organization is anything like mine, you are not the only leader in charge. In your various departments you likely have directors or managers who oversee day-to-day operations within their scope.

How well do these department leaders lead? According to results from the Global Human Capital Trends 2014 survey published by Deloitte University Press, leadership “remains the No. 1 talent issue facing organizations around the world.” However, only 13 percent of survey respondents said their organizations do an excellent job of developing leaders at all levels.

Forbes contributor Roger Trapp explains how companies can remedy this gap in talent with a few suggestions, including:

  • engage top executives to develop leadership strategies and govern their development;
  • align leadership strategies with business goals; and
  • implement an effective, unique leadership program.
