Getting your credit union UNSTUCK
After helping hundreds of credit unions get unstuck over the last 15 years, I’ve started to notice and document trends. How did this credit union get stuck? What was the pivotal point that got them into this situation? What credit unions were able to get unstuck, and which ones didn’t and what were the differences? Here are the three reasons I’ve seen credit unions get stuck in a place of complacency:
- The vision or ability to focus on the important and not just the urgent. The leaders are just so busy just running their credit union they never find ‘the right time’ to start focusing on the important (strategy and leadership) instead of the urgent (the fires that pop up every day.)
- When they do start to focus on the important (strategy and leadership) they become overwhelmed with what to do next, and in what sequence. They freak, and then they freeze with little to no action of forward movement.
