March Madness and insights from basketball greats

March Madness is upon us and that means it’s time to buckle down and get crackin’ on our brackets. For those of you who aren’t sports fans, March Madness is the time from the second week of March through the first week of April where 68 collegiate basketball teams go head to head, all vying for that coveted national title. It’s an exciting time for college sports and a chance for friends, family, and colleagues to challenge one with their bracket selections. In honor of the determination, hard work, and skill displayed during the tournament, let’s take a look at insights from basketball greats.

“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot—and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” – Michael Jordan

“Don’t let winning make you soft. Don’t let losing make you quit. Don’t let your teammates down in any situation.” – Larry Bird

“In basketball, as in life, true joy comes from being fully present in each and every moment, not just when things are going your way” – Phil Jackson

“Great players are willing to give up their own personal achievement for the achievement of the group. It enhances everybody” – Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

“Don’t confuse your path with your destination. Just because its stormy now doesn’t mean you aren’t headed for sunshine” – Mike Krzyzewski
