NAFCU’s Long joins Politico Money Podcast to talk recession, shutdown
NAFCU Chief Economist Curt Long joined Politico Money Podcast, hosted by Ben White, to offer his thoughts on the risks or likelihood of another recession.
Long noted one of the economic indicators he looks at is corporate debt. “Corporate debt is one of those things that I look at that is like kindling. It may not be the spark that starts the recession, but if that spark is there it is something that can certainly add fuel to the fire,” said Long.
In his recent column, “The Bottom Line: Pondering the Next Recession,” featured in The NAFCU Journal, Long discussed three key indicators economists looks at when determining whether a recession is looming: the yield curve, the unemployment rate and corporate debt.
