PenFed CEO James Schenck on assisting small CUs and the PenFed Foundation

During our time at the 2015 CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference last month, we were honored to visit with PenFed’s CEO James Schenck at the credit union’s headquarters in Alexandria, VA. We discussed the value of today’s smaller credit unions to the industry and their communities, as well as how larger credit unions can provide a helping hand to them, providing anything from technology advice to lending practices to compliance assistance. With resources sometimes running thin, it’s good to hear that credit unions like PenFed are there to help their smaller peers better serve their members.

In addition, we talked about James’ unwavering support of the PenFed Foundation, a nationally recognized nonprofit organization working to meet the unmet needs of the military personnel and their families in the areas of financial literacy, housing, and support for the wounded. PenFed works to prevent medical emergencies from turning into financial hardships for our nation’s defenders.
