BHFCU staff-led giving program raises over $3,000 for education
RAPID CITY, SD (April 21, 2023) — Black Hills Federal Credit Union (BHFCU) believes it is imperative to support the passions of its staff. That’s why they promote the staff-led Community Action Team (CAT) program and are proud to share that staff contributions raised $3,100 and collected more than 750 books for organizations across the state in March.
Last month, the CAT program focused on supporting organizations important to staff within the education and child support fields. The effort raised money for three organizations, the Readiatrics Book Drive, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Black Hills, and the Promising Futures Fund.
“We got creative planning events to get staff involved this month,” said Kimberly Lucas, BHFCU Insurance Client Services Representative. “From setting up a basketball hoop in our breakroom, receiving theatrical submissions for the free throw contest, and getting competitive in the bowling lanes, the BHFCU crew had fun while raising money.”
CAT co-chairs organized a children’s book drive, family and friends bowling night, and a BHFCU “sweet 16” free throw contest to encourage staff to get involved and donate. All these efforts amounted to numerous strikes and spares, one free throw G.O.A.T., over 750 children’s books, and $3,100 raised for the three supported organizations.
BHFCU supports community needs through corporate contributions, employee fundraisers, and donations from members and community supporters to the Black Hills FCU Charitable Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
