Casey named NAFCU’s 2016 Paul Revere Award recipient

The National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) today recognized Family Trust Federal Credit Union Manager of Business Development and Government Relations David Casey as the credit union grassroots activist of the year by presenting him the 2016 Paul Revere Award during the first day of the association’s Congressional Caucus in Washington.

“Not just this past year, but well before, David has tirelessly worked to improve the regulatory landscape for credit unions,” said NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger. “His commitment to advancing credit unions’ legislative and regulatory initiatives is unwavering.”

The award is only given to an individual of a NAFCU-member credit union and recognizes a credit union supporter who goes to great lengths in their grassroots and political efforts.

Casey attends several meetings with congressional leaders on behalf of Family Trust FCU. He has met with Rep. Mick Mulvaney, R-S.C; Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C.; Rep. Jeff Duncan, R-S.C.; Rep. Tom Rice, R-S.C.; Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., and Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. During those discussions, Casey talked about some of the credit union industry’s critical issues, including data security, regulatory transparency and preservation of the credit union federal tax exemption. Casey maintains a strong relationship with Mulvaney and his staff.

Family Trust FCU is headquartered in Rock Hill, S.C., and was established in 1988. With $422 million in assets, Family Trust FCU serves more than 40,000 members from seven branch locations in York County, S.C.
