CUNA Supervisory Committee & Internal Audit Conferences to be held December 6-9

MADISON, WI (June 4, 2015) — CUNA has announced the date and location of this year’s CUNA Supervisory Committee & Internal Audit Conference, one of the few annual credit union programs developed specifically for supervisory committee members and internal auditors: December 6-9 in Las Vegas.

“Even though they are essential components of a credit union’s success, very few conferences focus solely on the vital role of the supervisory committee and internal auditor. CUNA Supervisory Committee & Internal Audit Conference fills the gap with four days focused fully on credit union oversight, audit and fraud,” says Michelle Johnson, CUNA Instructional Design Manager. “New to this year’s agenda will be sessions categorized by level of material. Not specific to any requirements, attendees can choose sessions based on their own individual needs, interests and skills.”

“For two consecutive years I have attended this conference and I continue to gain new updates and insights specific to my role,” says Tina Mullis, supervisory committee member at Boulder Dam CU. “It’s a unique conference that allows me to focus in depth on my duties while being fully immersed in an environment dedicated to supervisory committee needs.”

Through a mix of foundational, intermediate and advanced breakout sessions, attendees will study the relationship between the supervisory committee and internal auditor, discuss in-depth strategies and review the latest economic, technology and compliance updates. In addition to informational sessions, attendees will have opportunities to network with peers from similar asset sizes to discuss issues and functions specific to credit unions in their own asset range.

Session highlights:
·         ERM Oversight and Best Practices
·         The Practitioner’s Guide to an Effective Internal Audit Function
·         Today’s Economy and the Risks for Your Credit Union
·         IT Auditing 101
·         Developing a Fraud Risk Program
·         Compliance Issues Update
·         Getting the Most Out of Financial Statements

During registration, attendees can add the pre-conference CUNA Supervisory Committee Fundamentals Seminar, CUNA Supervisory Committee Fundamentals Video and conference guest program.
