“Envision No Hunger” campaign launches in support of Second Harvest of the Big Bend

Envision Credit Union to match community donations for the food bank’s new School Pantry Program.

TALLAHASSEE, FL (July 18, 2023) — Envision Credit Union (Envision) recently announced the launch of their fourth annual “Envision No Hunger” fundraising initiative benefitting Second Harvest of the Big Bend’s new School Pantry Program. Originally funding the food bank’s Backpack Program, providing backpacks full of food to students in need of a reliable food source over the weekends, the new School Pantry Program will serve entire families in need rather than just the individual child. With Envision’s support, Second Harvest will be able to open and operate more pantries across the Big Bend region, expanding its impact and services to families that need it most.

“Part of Envision’s mission is to uplift initiatives that directly impact the lives of children in our community,” said Darryl Worrell, President and CEO of Envision. “We are extremely proud of this partnership and the impact it has delivered over the past three years. However, there are still many more children and families in need of assistance. We trust that the new School Pantry Program will create an even bigger impact in our community, and we ask everyone to join and support us in this new journey.”

Second Harvest’s goal for the upcoming school year is to open and operate 20 pantries feeding children and families for the entire school year. Funding these 20 pantries across the Big Bend region will cost approximately $200,000, making this year’s campaign the largest and most important one yet. The fundraising period will run from July 1 to July 31. Envision Credit Union will match donations dollar for dollar up to $30,000.

“Our team is excited to continue this partnership with Envision and expand our impact across the Big Bend. We want to thank all of the community members that donated to last year’s Envision No Hunger campaign, surpassing our $60,000 goal” said Monique Ellsworth, CEO of Second Harvest of the Big Bend. “Students continue to be our priority in this campaign, but switching to our School Pantry Program will allow us to include their families and loved ones, creating a happier and healthier Big Bend community.”
