Fire and Burn Foundation receives $5,000 donation from Altura Credit Union

RIVERSIDE, CA (April 14, 2015) — Altura Credit Union recently made a $5,000 donation to the Fire & Burn Foundation in Colton. Part of a community-oriented campaign launched this year called #AlturaCares, the money for the donation was generated by Altura members.

Every time an Altura member made a purchase with theirAltura Visa® Credit Card or Debit Card during the first three months of 2015, a portion of each sale was set aside for charity, up to $5,000 total.   #AlturaCares worked closely with Altura members to identify four local charitable causes for this program in 2015.

Altura member Charlie Apodaca recommended the Fire & Burn Foundation where he volunteers. He has been featured in local TV spots and on billboards promoting #AlturaCares and highlighting his support of the Foundation. A different charity will be featured each quarter this year.

The Foundation provides free programs for and support to burn survivors and their families in the Inland Empire.  It also offers fire and burn prevention programs and materials to schools, community organizations, fire departments, and medical facilities as well as to residents at community health fairs.

Finally, the Foundation supports burn injury research and treatment at the Edward G. Hirschman Burn Center at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where it maintains its headquarters. The Burn Center is the only major center serving the four counties of San Bernardino, Riverside, Inyo and Mono.

“Altura is excited to partner with our members to recognize local charitable organizations that are important to our members and the community,” said Jennifer Binkley, chief operating officer, Altura Credit Union.  “It’s a great feeling to be able to help an organization like the Fire & Burn Foundation to continue to fulfill its important mission.”
