KEMBA Financial named Top Workplace for 4th straight year

Additionally recognized by USA Today as a National Top Workplace

COLUMBUS, OH (April 3, 2024) — KEMBA Financial Credit Union, a nearly $2.2 billion credit union in Columbus, OH, was recently named one of Columbus CEO Magazine’s Top Workplaces for 2023 – for the fourth straight year. The award is based solely on employee feedback gathered from Energage, a third-party HR technology and research firm, which measures a variety of factors to determine honorees, for example: respect, support, ability to grow, and empowerment.

“I am humbled that we’re recognized with this prestigious award once again this year,” said Shernette Henry, Chief Human Resources Officer. “On behalf of our leadership team, thank you, we are so proud and truly honored that our associates have such a positive workplace experience and genuinely feel valued.”

Equally as notable, KEMBA was also honored by USA Today with a Top Workplaces USA award. Like the local recognition, this award is based on the same third-party employee engagement survey and celebrates employers that have cultivated exceptional workplace environments when measured against industry benchmarks.

Eric Rubino, Energage CEO commented, “The Top Workplaces award is a badge of honor and something companies should be very proud to showcase. The people-first cultures they have built and nurtured will set them apart in a highly competitive market. These organizations represent the best of the best.”

KEMBA employs more than 300 people between its corporate office – located in Gahanna – and 12 branches across Central Ohio. They strive to provide top-notch benefits and compensation packages, as well as opportunities for career and personal growth through their learning platform, KEMBA University. Additionally, associates are encouraged to participate in community outreach to engage with the communities they serve.

“One of the best traditions we have at KEMBA is to participate in an all-staff volunteer day annually,” said Stephanie Watkins, Consumer Loan Underwriting Manager, and member of KEMBA’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council. “We close down for the day and spend time serving our communities.”

KEMBA regularly surveys its associates to ensure employee engagement and satisfaction and boasts two internal councils comprised of associates in all position ranks across the organization: a DE&I Council, as previously mentioned, as well as an Associate Council. These groups are encouraged to be a voice for all associates and bring participation and ideas to the table.

“As an organization, we strive to ensure that each of our associates feels valued and appreciated, and have various platforms for participation and feedback,” Henry said. “To be recognized for our efforts as one of the best places to work on a national level is truly outstanding,” she added.

KEMBA continues to grow and expand across Central Ohio, with accompanying opportunities for its workforce. In fact, KEMBA proudly promoted 82 internal associates in 2023, 27% of its workforce. As a muti-year Top Workplace honoree, and a first-time national recipient, KEMBA aspires to hire and retain the top talent in its industry.
