Folsom, CA (July 1, 2026) |
As part of its commitment to support youth education, SAFE Credit Union is collecting back-to-school supplies for students served by the Sacramento Children’s Home.
SAFE members and the public are invited to participate in the Backpack Drive that runs July 6-27. Donations can be placed in collection bins at all of SAFE’s 18 branches as well as its Corporate Office in Folsom at 2295 Iron Point Road. Branch locations can be found at www.safecu.org/locations.
“Kids need supplies like paper, pens, calculators and notebooks to be able to learn and fully participate at school. That’s why this drive is meaningful to us here at SAFE,” says SAFE Credit Union Community Impact Manager Lauren LeBov. “A solid start to education helps kids better prepare for brighter futures, and this drive does that by supporting many children in our community get ready for the upcoming new school year.”
SAFE collected enough donations to give nearly 300 backpacks full of school supplies to the Sacramento Children’s Home in 2025.
“We saw amazing generosity last year from our members and the community,” LeBov says. “I am looking forward to seeing that same energy this summer.”
SAFE employees will hold a backpack-filling event at its Corporate Office on July 21 during its Bring Your Kids to Work Day. Employees’ children will be invited to join their parents and guardians in the hands-on volunteer activity.
“We see this is a really fun and engaging way for our employees’ children to see how the adults in their lives directly support the community and kids just like them,” LeBov says.
Suggested items for donation include backpacks, pens, pencils, notebooks, loose-leaf paper, binders, calculators (scientific calculators for older students), reusable water bottles, rulers, homework planners, erasers, mini staplers, glue sticks, highlighters—and for younger kids, colored pencils, washable markers, safety scissors and crayons.
