San Diego County Credit Union returns as sponsor of San Diego LGBT Pride celebration

San Diego’s Pride celebration has grown to become a premier event in California for the LGBTQ+ community, featuring a block party, mile-long parade through Hillcrest and two-day festival in Balboa Park. On Friday, July 12 at 7 p.m., the Pride of Hillcrest Block Party will kick off the weekend of festivities. On Saturday, July 13, over 200,000 cheering spectators and thousands of participants, including Team SDCCU, will gather for the annual San Diego LGBT Pride Parade. The parade—fourth largest of its kind in the United States—begins at 10 a.m. at University Ave. and Normal St.
This year’s theme is “Stonewall 50: A Legacy of Liberation,” aligned with the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, to honor and reflect on the Stonewall generation, their activism, and all that the LGBTQ+ community has gained through their efforts. SDCCU was a 2018 recipient of the Spirit of Stonewall Award, which recognizes people and organizations that are contributing to the LGBTQ+ community through leadership, activism and fundraising efforts.
The festival will feature headliners Melissa Etheridge and King Princess along with more than 100 entertainers, dozens of vendor booths including SDCCU’s, exhibits, cultural presentations and delicious food. The festival is held Saturday, July 13, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, July 14, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The SDCCU Hillcrest Branch is located at the corner of 5th and University Avenues. The branch is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Just a block away at the corner of 6th and University avenues is the SDCCU ATM that distributes $1, $5 and $20 bills.
