Student Choice creates college access counselor position to help families navigate obstacles of attending college

WASHINGTON, DC (July 16, 2015) — To help its credit union member families navigate the various obstacles of attending college today, Credit Union Student Choice, the foremost provider of higher education financing solutions to America’s credit unions, has created a College Access Counselor position. Filling this new role is former Elements Financial FCU Student Lending Manager Patricia Poplicean, who started on June 1, 2015.

As Student Choice’s College Access Counselor, Poplicean’s main objectives are to provide one-on-one counseling to families, prepare and deliver national webinars, present regional workshops and seminars, and assist in the development and deployment of financial education resources.

According to Melissa Hunt, Student Choice’s Chief Operations Officer, Poplicean’s professional experience and personal commitment make her a strong addition to the Student Choice team.

“Tricia was instrumental in helping to build a very successful Student Choice program at Elements,” said Hunt. “Her experience and expertise, coupled with tremendous passion and dedication, allowed her to help countless families realize their educational goals in a financially responsible manner.”

In addition to helping students and families, Poplicean was also responsible for overseeing daily operational needs of the Student Choice program, developing school relationships, and executing student lending promotions and campaigns.

“Working with students and families in navigating today’s college experience is truly a passion of mine,” said Poplicean. “I’ve been doing this for much of my financial services career, so I look forward to leveraging my experience in helping even more families overcome the obstacles they face in pursuing a higher education.”
