Over 850 professionals gathered together in Chicago today for the start of the 89th Annual Convention held by the Illinois Credit Union League (ICUL).
This year’s ICUL Annual Convention focuses on credit unions working together to empower their communities. Education sessions support credit union efforts to reach diverse communities, train leaders, navigate the changing financial landscape, and apply the latest cybersecurity practices.
ICUL was honored and privileged to welcome NCUA Chairman Mark McWatters as the opening speaker at the convention. Attendees eagerly listened to important updates from the National Credit Union Administration shared by Chairman McWatters. "The opportunity to dialogue with Illinois credit unions today is appreciated," NCUA Chairman J. Mark McWatters said. "Your input on what impacts your operations on a day to day basis is invaluable to my role as a regulator. With safety and soundness at the forefront, targeted and simple regulation allows you who run credit unions to do what you do best and remains of utmost importance."
A wide-range of meetings and fun networking opportunities also kept attendees entertained and engaged. Breakout sessions contributed additional insights on credit union culture and leadership.
Along with NCUA Chairman Mark McWatters, the panel of expert speakers brought an inspiring start to this year’s ICUL Convention. A return to the beautiful and historic Hilton Chicago after a seven-year break has also made this an exciting year for attendees to gather. Staying true to the theme of CU in the City, the 2019 ICUL Annual Convention has created an opportunity for credit union professionals from all walks of life to gather together and support a shared vision. ICUL looks forward to two more days of the 2019 Annual Convention, concluding on April 6, 2019.
