Unwired Nation launches Touch ID support, delivering biometric-secured apps for community banks and credit unions

AUSTIN, TX (June 9, 2015) — Unwired Nation™, a mobile-banking platform provider for community banks and credit unions, today announced the availability of Touch ID biometric security support for its mobile app platform. Unwired Banking™ is the first mobile banking platform in the US offering Touch ID for primary account security and mobile banking authentication.

The Unwired Banking™ solution immediately makes community banks and credit unions more competitive with large financial institutions (FIs) through a wide range of mobile features including increased security and end user convenience. Touch ID addresses today’s iOS marketplace and Unwired Nation expects to bring similar innovations to Android users in the future.

“Mobile is the most significant development in banking since the introduction of the ATM and Touch ID levels the mobile banking playing field for our community bank and credit union customers competing against Megabanks,” said Chere Heintzmann, chief executive officer of Unwired Nation. “Our Unwired Banking platform and Touch ID offer significant security and convenience enhancements that are deployable in days versus months because they are independent of existing financial systems. There is no longer any doubt: Touch ID and biometric technologies are the future of mobile banking security.”

This development solves an important gating factor in mobile banking. Despite a groundswell of data indicating mobile is becoming the preferred choice for how financial institutions and customers will interact in the future, security remains as the top concern for both FIs and consumers. According to a recent Federal Reserve Report, 62 percent of people who do not use mobile banking list security as their primary concern. Unwired Banking was designed from the ground up to address this concern and provide the highest level of mobile banking security available.

Unwired’s newly announced Touch ID biometric security feature is a key security enhancement that remedies problems inherent to other mobile banking offerings by combining advanced biometric security and the use of cloud-based solutions to ensure that personal, account, password and financial data never reside on the user’s smartphone.

“We evaluated a number of available mobile banking applications and Unwired Banking clearly leads the market,” said Steve Skinner, President & CEO of TransPecos Banks. “The platform sets new standards in affordability and true core and internet-banking independence.  And importantly, Unwired Nation’s inclusion of Apple’s Touch ID biometric security is a clear indication of market leadership and commitment toward simple to use, yet supremely secure technologies.”
