Special election to be held for CUNA board seat

One of CUNA’s board members has recently ceased to be employed by a District 6, Class B credit union and is therefore ineligible to continue his service in that position.  The board of directors has agreed to hold a special election to fill that position, which will expire at the adjournment of the Annual General Meeting in 2020.

Eligible members were notified of the special election on March 26.

CUNA received its first nomination for this position from Teresa Freeborn, president of Xceed Financial FCU, El Segundo, Calif.

To become an eligible candidate for a CUNA Director position to be elected, an individual must be an employee or voting board member of a credit union in District 6, Class B.  The nomination must be in writing and must be seconded in writing by two other credit unions in the same district and class.  Class B credit unions are those having at least 38,000 but not more than 141,000 natural person members, as of June 30, 2017.  District 6 is comprised of the following:  Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, American Samoa, Guam, Johnston Atoll, Midway Atoll, Northern Mariana Islands, Palmyra Atoll and Wake Atoll.
