SPIRE CU unveils new charitable giving app for CUs

Officials say the donations made through the platform will not incur credit card fees or other administrative costs.

Falcon Heights, Minn.-based SPIRE Credit Union and Minneapolis-based venture studio DNT BLNK launched a new industry app this month called NetGiver, which allows members to donate to charities directly from their credit union checking and savings accounts.

The app boasts “100% charitable giving,” in that donations made through the platform will not incur credit card fees or other administrative costs that other charitable giving platforms typically skim from donations, the credit union said.

“The NetGiver app provides a feel-good experience for credit union members with not only the simplicity of donating to their chosen nonprofit directly from their credit union account, but also the satisfaction of knowing every penny of their donation goes directly to the nonprofit organization,” the organizations said in an announcement this week. “With this new touchpoint for credit unions, NetGiver is designed as a unique acquisition and retention tool for new members and additional deposit accounts.”
