3 tips for leaving work happy every day

We all strive for that work-life balance. Although it takes a conscious effort to separate the two, it is possible to have a happy home and work life. The key to not letting work stress affect your personal relationships is to exit the office daily with a positive outlook. Here are three tips for leaving work happy everyday.

Assess your accomplishments
Before you turn off your computer and head for the door, take note of what you achieved that day. Even the smallest accomplishments can leave you feeling productive and victorious. Unfortunately, many leaders fail to give credit where credit is due, therefore, remind yourself of your value by patting yourself on the back before you head home. This will give you the confidence needed to shut work off for the day and return tomorrow with motivation.

Have something fun on the horizon
Whether it’s happy hour with friends or a night relaxing at home with family, have something enjoyable to look forward to after work hours. Even if you don’t have a set plan in place, just having a fun thought about what’s to come will help you to leave work happy. Having a glass of wine and a good book or movie waiting for you can make all the difference especially if you’ve had a stressful day at the office.

Tidy up before taking off
Just as reviewing that day’s accomplishments can leave you feeling productive, so can straightening your desk at the end of the workday. This small task will help you feel in control and organized. Sure, there are occasions when you’ll be rushing out at the end of the day, but the more put-together your workspace is when you leave, the better you will feel.
