3 ways to feel less overwhelmed

We all feel overwhelmed by life from time to time. If you find yourself in this situation, here are three things you can do to calm yourself and get back on track…

Get help: We don’t always like admitting that we need help, but sometimes it is just what we need. If you’ve got too much to handle alone, swallow your pride and ask for assistance. You may not like doing it, but it’ll be worth it.

Prioritize: If you feel like you can’t get out from under a pile of responsibilities, the only way to dig yourself out is to handle your tasks one at a time. What’s most important? What can wait? What’s going to take the most time? Figure out the best order to handle your tasks and get to work. Slowly but surely, you’ll feel relief as your load gets lighter.

Find perspective: Sometimes we feel overwhelmed because we’re stuck. If we’re constantly looking at a situation from the same angle, it can be hard to figure out what moves to make. If you find yourself in this situation, take a step back and look at it from the outside. Put someone else in your place and decide how you would advise them if they were in your shoes. A fresh look can often get you unstuck, and that should help you feel less overwhelmed.
