4 tips to make your workday more productive

A little productivity or life hack is never a bad thing to know. Here are my favorite little hacks that can help anyone become more effective at work.

Step away from your phone

When you need to focus on a work project, leave your phone in another room. If you really must use it, consider an app that helps with productivity time, utilizing do-not-disturb modes, or set a timer on your phone for 30-minutes and work until it sounds.

Set two deadlines

Setting two deadlines serves as a buffer if something goes wrong. One deadline is for you; the other is for clients, customers, or your boss. Trust me – you will be happy you have it when you need it most.

Schedule time to think

Read, work, meditate, or catch up on your industry. Every year, Bill Gates devotes an entire week to thinking time. I would say he knows a thing or two about thinking.

Start your day with the hardest task

Even if you don’t finish the task, everything else that happens will feel easier by comparison. Often a little momentum is all you need. It’s enough to prevent feeling guilty about procrastinating or a lack of progress later on.
