KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Tues., May 29, 2012) – Mazuma Credit Union announces the appointment of Matt Monge as their first Chief Culture Officer.  Monge brings a wealth of human resources experience and expertise in employee and organizational culture development within a credit union environment.

“Mazuma’s vision is to be the most respected and envied credit union in the country.  We’re aiming high, and it will take many talented people to ensure we meet our goals on the way to our vision.  Matt is one of those people who will make sure everyone stays true to our member-centric mission, through our new core value of ‘positive awesomeness,” said Brandon Michaels, President and CEO of Mazuma Credit Union.

“I maintain that a healthy organizational culture is one of the biggest competitive advantages out there right now.  A healthy organizational culture – one marked by high morale, high productivity, minimal confusion, minimal politics, and low turnover – is one that employees want to be a part of,” explained Monge.  “It unlocks the potential within people, and that provides a unique path for Mazuma to achieve its vision.  People — our members and our employees — remain the very core of our business, so we want to cultivate an environment within which our employees are engaged and passionate, and our members are more excited than ever to be part of the Mazuma family.”

Prior to joining Mazuma Credit Union, Monge was the Vice President of People & Development at Fort Campbell Federal Credit Union, Clarksville, Tennessee.   “Our Mazuma team members already forged an extraordinary foundation of superb member experience and community impact,” added Michaels.  “With Matt’s leadership and direction, Mazuma now possesses enormous potential to build

on Mazuma’s strengths and to achieve greater heights of distinction and service.  There are plenty of challenges ahead, not the least of which is maintaining a balance between today’s difficult economy and the opportunities that will present themselves in the future.  I’m confident Matt brings the energy and organizational tools that will empower our team members to exceed expectations very quickly.”

“My primary goal as chief culture officer is to continue to build on Mazuma’s success, particularly as it relates to the human side of the business.  While leading the culture, organizational development, and human resources efforts, I want our Mazuma team to fully understand what Mazuma stands for, what makes us tick, and why the market and community are better for us existing here in Kansas City.  From there, we can plot a strategy that sets the right trajectory to build on our unique, organizational identity,” said Monge.

Matt was named one of Credit Union Times’ “Trailblazers 40 Below,” and a Training Magazine Top 125 Award winner.  He is earning his Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University.
