Empowering leaders to flex their expertise muscle

As football season is in full swing, it’s time to pull out one of my favorite quotes I have shared previously from the legendary NFL coach, Vince Lombardi: “Leaders are not born, they’re made.”

As a leader, it is important to mentor and empower your employees, who work tirelessly, to ensure their personal and operational success. Developing skills, leaning into our strengths, mitigating weaknesses, and learning from failure are not only opportunities to grow, but also the recipe for success.

The proposed merger between NAFCU and CUNA into America’s Credit Unions, should members approve, has provided these same opportunities for both organizations and their talented teams to stand up a brand-new organization to support and represent credit unions across the country.

NAFCU’s Anthony Demangone and CUNA’s Jill Tomalin recently announced key staff to support 13 initial transformation teams. Each of the teams identified bring together talented leaders from both NAFCU and CUNA, with unique backgrounds and thorough knowledge of the industry to help ensure a strong foundation for America’s Credit Unions. Together, these leaders will learn from one another, hone their skills, identify weaknesses, and share best practices.
