2018 John Garrison Scholarship Award winners announced

Shell Federal Credit Union extends the John Garrison Scholarship Award to graduating high school seniors each year. Recipients are selected based upon academic performance, communal involvement, extracurricular activities, and response to the application essay. The topic for this year’s essay asked applicants to explain the difference between a bank and a credit union, as well as why a young adult would use a credit union over a bank for their financial needs.

More than 140 applications were submitted for the John Garrison Scholarship this year from 49 different high schools throughout Harris County. Ten deserving high school seniors were selected as recipients of the 2018 John Garrison Scholarship award; each of the ten students will be awarded $2,500 to the college, university or vocational-technical school of choice.
