Save more at the grocery store

When it comes to sticking to your budget while grocery shopping, there are a few tried-and-true rules.

Don’t shop when hungry. Look to the back of shelves for fresher produce and dairy items. And don’t make impulsive buys just because something is on sale.

Here are four more ways every household can save on their grocery bills.

Download the app: eMarketer estimates by 2019, 22.6 million shoppers will use a grocery mobile app at least monthly. Grocery apps are not just for saving time by having your groceries delivered to your car or your front door. You can also plan shopping trips, research meal ideas and get the inside scoop on the latest deals.

Take advantage of price match deals: Consumers are the big winners when stores reimburse or match cheaper offers from their competitors.

Talk to associates about special savings days: In addition to learning more about their savings days, associates are happy to share details about the store’s upcoming markdowns, double-coupon days and more.

Be loyal: Loyalty reward cards can offer additional savings on already discounted items. And, some offer cash back or money toward future purchases.
