Located in Brunswick Georgia, just south of Savannah, Marshland Community Federal Credit Union serves members in education and government related businesses throughout Glynn, McIntosh and Brantley Counties. Marshland recently used Statement2web from OMI, for a marketing campaign to increase the adoption of electronic statements among members.

According to Nanci Smith, Director of HR and Marketing for Marshland, their aim was to reduce the amount of paper, postage and processing involved with issuing paper member statements, and thereby pass those savings along to members. “When the credit union is able to reduce expenses and increase profitability,” says Smith, “those savings are passed on to the membership in increased dividends and better interest rates. So everybody wins!

Thoughtful Strategies, Real Results

Marshland designed a marketing campaign using email and Statement2web, from OMI, to conduct the activities with the giveaway of two iPad minis at the heart of the promotion. Smith explained how it worked. “I compiled a list of all eligible members with an email address on file. We were able to send out an email that said we would enter your name in a drawing to win one of two iPad minis for everyone who signed up for eStatements between November 19th and December 21st. And that hit right at Christmas time, and the iPad mini had just been released, so it was a real hot item.”

The strategy worked, and Marshland was pleasantly surprised with the results. “After we got it going and started seeing the results come in, it was kind of a heady experience,” says Smith. “Our main goal was to increase the number of members who were using electronic Statements and we had very good results. We were able to increase the number of members who signed up for electronic statements by 30% and I would say that is very significant.”
