DCUC announces sponsorship of military spouse financial educator credentials

WASHINGTON, DC (July 19, 2018) — The Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) announced they would contribute $10,000 to become a bronze level sponsor of the Association for Financial Counseling & Planning Education (AFCPE) Annual Symposium, which will be held November 14-16.

DCUC’s sponsorship will provide five military spouses the opportunity to attend the symposium to further their financial educator credentials. Financial counseling and education careers can provide a portable career option for a military spouse that supports the mobility of their lifestyle.

“Military spouses historically have been underemployed, obtaining skills in the financial services industry can offer a portable career option and a resource of financial knowledge for service members and their families,” said DCUC President & CEO, Anthony Hernandez.

Each year, the AFCPE Symposium brings together a diverse and inclusive community of professionals working across the continuum of personal finance. Each participant will be introduced to new research, new ideas and new connections to grow and enhance their career and create a lasting impact on the financial well being of the individuals and communities they serve.
