Why introverted social media spells ‘security’ for your credit union with DigitalMailer’s Ron Daly

by. Mike Lawson

Digital Mailer’s President/CEO and Founder Ron Daly has a well-respected industry blog named “CU Soapbox“. On his virtual platform, Ron addresses various, pressing issues related to credit unions and financial services. One such blog post caught my eye entitled “Introvert Media – What ‘Private’ Social Networks Tell Us About the Future of Online Sharing“.

In this post, Ron flips today’s overly-extrovert social media practices on its head and looks at the growing trend of social media niche sites that are more introverted for close-knit communities, such as sites like SnapChat, NextDoor, Celly, and others. So we invited Ron on the program to go into a bit more detail about this growing niche trend within social media and how it affects your credit union — especially from a information security perspective.

There is a lot of personal information floating about the virtual space whether you’re on Facebook or NextDoor and security today is more important than ever. That said, Ron also discusses his company’s My Virtual StrongBox that keeps your information safe and sound behind your online banking solution.

Ron concludes his post with this statement: “With all the movement toward introvert media, we see a growing need (as does Barclays, by the way) to present options that keep communications – and communicators – private.” Check out our conversation regarding this timely topic that mixes social and finance — and security.
