The CUInsight Experience podcast: Renée Sattiewhite and Maurice Smith – Show passion (#143)
“Opportunities for advancement usually come from proximity." - Maurice Smith
Thank you for tuning in to episode 143 of The CUInsight Experience podcast with your host, Randy Smith, co-founder of CUInsight.com. This episode is brought to you by Elan Credit Card. Elan partners with more than 250 credit unions to provide an outsourced credit card program, and offers merchant and mortgage services for credit union members and business owners.
My guests on today’s show are Renée Sattiewhite and Maurice Smith who were guests on the show before. Renée is the President and CEO of the African-American Credit Union Coalition (AACUC) and Maurice is the CEO of Local Government Federal Credit Union (LGFCU). They joined me on a live stage, recording at the 24th annual AACUC Conference in St. Pete Beach, FL. The AACUC is a nonprofit organization set out to strengthen the global credit union community.
During our conversation, Renée and Maurice discuss the community of the credit union movement and what excites them about the future. Renée shares the key to improving the member experience through passionate service and financial awareness while Maurice discusses how our relevancy remains prevalent. We dive into the topic of small credit unions, specifically around the trend of consolidation and the effect it has on our communities. Renée and Maurice talk about what credit unions can do to grow and ensure the future of the movement is bright.
Listen as the conversation takes on topics about mentorship, servant leadership, and solutions to protect the future of the credit union industry. They discuss innovation when it comes to growth and development and share insights to continue moving forward. While sharing industry experiences, Renée and Maurice give advice and share words of wisdom to motivate the next generation of credit union leaders.
As we wrap up the show, Renée and Maurice talk about highlights from the AACUC conference, who’d play them in a biopic, and Maurice’s book about his father.. Enjoy my conversation with Renée and Maurice!
